The Galaxie Announces G-Y.E.S
The Galaxie Youth Expression Series Spring 2009
Turn on to the MUSIC, MOVEMENT and the CREATIVE PROCESS

G-Y.E.S. is a series of programs that will feature Chicago artists presenting instruction, performance and visual art opportunities and community activities to high school students in Chicago.
Specific classes, workshops, competitions and programming will be made available through the Galaxie's variety of visual and performance art creatives in residence.

Students will learn more about what it takes to apply their talents in a broad variety of art forms. They will be guided toward completing artistic goals and participating in competitions, gallery opportunities and performances at the Galaxie and within the community.
For more information about specific programs now and in the future, to provide opportunities within your community to either host a G-Y.E.S. related event, or to help us reach out to your youth community,  please contact us at info@galaxiechicago.com.

From January to May, the program will involve a music competition in which students create and submit their original piece of music using the guidelines set up by the Galaxie Fusion Challenge, as well as a 12-week dance lesson series taught by a number of the most innovative and inspiring instructors in Chicago, ending with a team dance competition. The final event will be a small ensemble of students performing a synchronized routine, which they will choreograph, as special guest at an all ages social dance event in Chicago.
