The Galaxie was thrilled to reinvent and rediscover the excitement that was inspired by the “Adorables” when the original Chez Paree first opened in 1932.
About the event: A contemporary loft with a rich history, Chez event space was once the home of the famous Chez Paree nightclub, which occupied the building from the 1930s through the 1950s. The club hosted many of the world’s best entertainers, including Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nat King Cole.
The grand opening of Chez was the introduction of this long established name into the contemporary landscape of Chicago as a sought after destination for spectacular events. The Revel Group provided exquisite aesthetics and superior quality small bites and classic cocktails.
What we provided: Chez commissioned The Galaxie, via The Revel Group, to design a chorus line of performers to match the talent and grace of the classic “Adorables”, the traditional opening act of the Chez Paree (1932-1960).
10 Galaxie Girls hit the floor, feathers, tulle and skin in abundance, to delight and surprise the guests at the grand opening of Chez, Chicago’s newest and hottest event venue in Streeterville. Our own brand of chorus line included traditional moves coupled with classic styles and hard hitting electroswing music.
The space was on fire with anticipation as the Galaxie Girls broke into the space with a jolt, and inspired audible gasps and shouts from the crowd, leaving the guests with mouths gaping, hoping for another peek at the past.
About the event:The Bally Hoo! was conceived of, directed and produced by Nicolle Wood, as one of her very first large scale innovations as Entertainment Director at Untitled Supperclub, in the summer of 2012.
Nicolle’s extensive knowledge of the period had images of live entertainment, dancing and the social culture of the period indelibly set in her mind. Intended to emulate the floorshows of the 1930s and 1940s, The Bally Hoo came to life after extensive and tireless auditions to find the perfect performers, in depth discussions regarding the perfect setting for the show, hours of work alongside band leader and arranger Andy Schumm, and, of course, timing is everything.
Since it’s triumphant run at Untitled, The Bally Hoo! has been performed throughout the Chicagoland area for private and public events alike, and has always been received with wild applause by guests everywhere.
The Bally Hoo! and the Chicago Cultural Center
The Galaxie was thrilled to be invited to perform The Bally Hoo! at the Chicago Cultural Center in April 2014, as a part of the acclaimed Mecca Flat Blues Exhibition. Hundreds of guests joined in the celebration, honoring the era and the artistry.
Some inspiration for the original production:
What we provide: The Bally Hoo! in its entirety is a 90 minute long floor show with performances by The Galaxie Girls, a dashing host, engaging male and female vocalists, variete performances that include Burlesque and Fan Dancers, and one smokin’ hot band- The Fat Babies.
In addition to these visual and auditory treats, guests are invited to sit for dinner or cocktails, get up and dance, and generally enjoy the experience of an evening of classic entertainment.
